Life Lately 03
This week, I hit 25 weeks of pregnancy, which suddenly feels very far along. For the first half of my pregnancy, I was feeling like we had all the time in world to prepare, which we've been doing, albeit slowly. Now, though, I'm starting to get antsy with the realization that this baby is coming in three short months, ready or not!
I also had the dreaded Glucose Test this week. While it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it certainly wasn't enjoyable either. Basically, you have five minutes to drink a super sugary drink, wait and hour, then have your blood drawn to measure the amount of glucose in your blood as an indicator for gestational diabetes. After hearing the drink described as "syrupy," I was dreading the test because I envisioned a thick substance that tasted like medicine, which I knew wouldn't sit well in my pregnant stomach. Fortunately, it tasted more like an extremely sweet version of Gatorade. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to down it so quickly. Plus, you can't drink or eat anything during the hour wait, even water, which isn't ideal.
On the plus side, our baby boy is moving every day now (knock on wood). Before, I only felt him kick every two, even three days. By the third day I had usually worked myself into such a STATE that Adam nearly had to talk me down from going to the hospital each time. (Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration but after a few days without baby kicks, I always got worried). Here's hoping he's big enough now that I feel him daily from here on out.

An Open Letter to the Glucose Test. Given that I had my own glucose test this week, the article both made me laugh and nod in agreement.
